We tried Umabai’s Spiced Almond Chicken from Supercook. This is North Indian in style. The chicken is marinated in spices, honey, almonds, yoghurt and cream and the result is a rich, delicately-flavoured dish.
We were unsure whether to drink a red or white wine with it and decided on balance to opt for a red. We opened a bottle of Campo Viejo Tempranillo 2010, a medium-bodied Spanish red from Costco. We detected red fruits and vanilla on the nose and the wine tasted of red fruits and spicy vanilla with a smooth long finish. A good match.
This particular wine continues to be very versatile in matching a wide range of foods, including some difficult pairings.
