An Australian Cabernet Works Well with Slow Cooked Beef

We finished off the Slow-Cooked Beef from last Friday (see 20th April) and Teresa suggested drinking a Cabernet Sauvignon with it.

We opened a bottle of McGuigan Classic Cabernet Sauvignon 2011, an Australian red from Tesco, and tasted predominantly blackcurrants with a cassis sweetness.  Overall, this wine worked quite well with the beef, but we again felt the food was proving tricky to pair wine with.
