A Wolf Blass Chardonnay Reliably Good with Halibut in a Cream Sauce

We cooked Neptune’s Delight from Supercook, which is Halibut and Prawns in a White Wine and Cream Sauce.  We didn’t have any prawns available but the dish was still very nice.  We thought a Chardonnay would go well and we opened a bottle of Wolf Blass Yellow Label 2010, an Australian white from Costco.  Last time we had this wine was with Pork Medallions in a creamy mushroom sauce (see 13th January 2011) and we enjoyed it very much.

On this occasion the creamy, buttery flavours in the Chardonnay worked well with the halibut in the sauce.  We also enjoyed the peach and melon fruit on offer.  A good pairing with a reliable wine.
