Rioja-like Red a Good Pairing with Spanish Meatballs

We enjoyed Spanish Meatballs and Patatas Bravas from Jamie Does, eaten al fresco and accompanied by a bottle of Posada del Rey – a Sunday Times Wine Club red from Spain’s Rioja region.  Sunday Times promote this as an everyday drinking wine that doesn’t carry the Rioja label or the matching price tag.  Unoaked with fruity, strawberry savoury flavours from the Tempranillo grape and a good match for the the tomatoey, herby, spicy flavours in the meal.
