We finished off the French Lamb & Tomato Stew (see Friday 31st December post). I said then we would go for a Spanish Red and we chose Don Elias Gran Reserva de La Familia 2000 a Catalunyan red from Sunday Times Wine Club. It’s a blend from Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo and Garnacha. Smooth forest fruit flavours and, according to the Wine Club, with notes of tobacco and leather. A superb match with the lamb and the powerful fruity and spicy flavours in the wine were accentuated.
