Going Greek with Pork Souvlaki – Red or Rosé?

Another barbecue and this time we went for a Greek theme with Pork Souvlaki, Tatziki and Pittas from Jamie Does.  Red or Rose?  We tried a Rey de Los Andes Carmenére 2009 from the Sunday Times Wine Club.  It couldn’t cope with the acidity of the lemon in the marinade and the flavours in the Tatziki and salad.  We decided to switch to Roqueta Rosado 2007 also from the Sunday Times Wine Club.  This is a Cabernet rosé from Spain and was miles better with this dish.  There was a lovely creaminess and strawberry fruitiness that went well with the food.
